Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am met by police at Sydney airport

Hip hop legend will.i.am was met by multiple police officers at Sydney airport after a dramatic feud with a Qantas flight attendant he claims was “racist”.

The Black Eyed Peas star was flying from Brisbane to Sydney when he claims he was targeted by an “overly aggressive” air hostess.

“I’m sorry to say me and my group have experienced the worst serviced due to an overly aggressive flight attendant,” he Tweeted on Saturday afternoon.

“I don’t want to believe she’s racist. But she clearly aimed all her frustrations at the people of colour.”

He says the air hostess “sent the police” after him because he couldn’t hear the PA.

He says he was “making beats on the plane wearing noise-cancelling headphones”. Will.i.am says he removed the headphones and complied with orders quickly, but was met by police regardless.

“The police finally let me go. Imagine if the police were as aggressive as [the flight attendant],” he tweeted.

Qantas has vehemently denied the allegations, saying the incident had nothing to do with racism.

“There was a misunderstanding on board, which seems to have been exacerbated by will.i.am wearing noise-cancelling headphones and not being able to hear instructions from crew,” a spokesperson told 7 News.

“We completely reject the suggestion this had anything to do with race.”
