Sugababes’ Amelle Berrabah files for divorce from husband Marcio Sousa Rosa after five years

Sugababes star Amelle Berrabah has filed for divorce from her husband, Mirror Online can reveal.

The singer and actress, 35, has ended things with husband Marcio Sousa Rosa after five years of marriage.

The exes, who share 18-month-old daughter Amirah Hope, remain on good terms and will continue to raise their child together after their romance came to a natural end.

A close friend of Amelle told Mirror Online: “Amelle and her husband Marcio have decided to part ways. Amelle has filed for divorce.

“The divorce has started and Amelle and Marcio are on good terms and will remain friends to raise their beautiful daughter together.

“It is a very tough time for them both but their main concern now is raising their daughter together.”

Our source added: “The relationship naturally came to an end and the pair became more friends in the end.”

The divorce proceedings have begun and are expected to take between 12 and 15 weeks to be finalised.

Amelle and Marcio tied the knot on October 17, 2014.

On that date last year, she marked their wedding anniversary with a sweet Instagram post.

Sharing a snap of them snuggled up on their wedding day, she wrote: “Happy 5th wedding anniversary baba @i.am.sousa

“Can you freaking believe we’ve been married for 5 years! Lol! It’s been a damn pleasure

“Love u baby”

The former couple regularly share pictures of their adorable little girl on Instagram, and it’s clear that she remains their main focus as they go through divorce.

Last year, Amelle told Mirror Online that she’d love to get Sugababes together once more.

While she was starring in musical Club Tropicana alongside Joe McElderry, she confessed she’d love a proper goodbye with bandmates Heidi Range and Jade Ewan, who have been on hiatus from the group since 2011.

She told us: “There’s been conversations before and it’s something that I think will happen but it’s not 100%.

“It was very sudden, we went to get married and have kids and a few years past so there’s definitely been conversations about doing one last tour and a European tour to kind of say goodbye and put a full stop and a line under it.

“When we know anything regarding that we’ll say. I think it will happen in the future but we just don’t know when really.”

She added: “Our fans are so loyal and lovely and supportive so it would be nice to show them how grateful we are to them and say, ‘We love you and goodbye’.

“I get quite a lot of messages on Instagram and Twitter asking if we’re still together. It would answer some questions.”

Sugababes have since released new music in their original line-up of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy.

Mirror Online has contacted Amelle’s representatives for comment.
