Jenna Bush Hager returns to ‘Today’ after welcoming son: ‘I cried on his little head’

The besties and new mamas are back together – finally!

Jenna Bush Hager returned to “Today with Hoda and Jenna” Monday after welcoming her son, Hal, in August. Her co-host Hoda Kotb just returned to the show in September after welcoming her daughter, Hope.

“It feels so good,” Bush Hager said on her return, while also gushing over her new baby boy.

“Last night I held him a little tighter. I cried on his little head, I’ll admit it,” the mom of three said. The co-host also shares two daughters, Mila, 6, and Poppy, 3, with her husband Henry Hager. “I can’t believe he’s here and I get to be his mom,” she added through tears.

Kotb followed up with questions on what it is like to be a mom of three and now, a boy mom.

“Men are a little bit simpler,” Bush Hager admitted.

“As long as Hal is close to somebody that is holding him tight and loves him – and fed and sleeping – he’s happy. ” she shared, saying that she is doing this a lot because it might be her last baby. “Sometimes girls are like ‘You know what but I’m having a bad day mom, don’t you know?’ “

Kotb joked during the show’s Halloween episode, where Bush Hager made a surprise appearance, that her return will mark “the real launch” of the show. The two have actually only been together on the show for one week.

The co-hosts are clearly excited for the reunion: “I’m coming home!!!” Bush Hager posted to Kotb on Instagram alongside a photo of the women embracing.

Kotb also shared a series of photos on Instagram welcoming Bush Hager back.

Jenna and Henry named their son Henry Harold “Hal” Hager, after dad and Jenna’s grandfather.

“My dad was a little mad that the name wasn’t George,” she joked about her dad and former president George W. Bush, clarifying, “He said it was a cool name.”

Bush Hager replaced Kathie Lee Gifford as co-host in April, just before Kotb went out on maternity leave following the adoption of her second daughter, Hope Catherine.

There is a bit of a baby boom happening on “Today.” Dylan Dreyer is pregnant with baby No. 3, due sometime in January. Carson Daly’s wife, Siri, is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child.
