Daniel Craig and co-stars join fans in Times Square for first screening of No Time To Die

WE HADN’T been expecting you, Mr Bond! Daniel Craig and the cast of No Time To Die surprised thousands of 007 fans at the first screening of the movie trailer in New York’s Times Square yesterday.

Craig took centre stage, along with his 007 replacement Lashana Lynch, who plays Nomi — the first ever woman with a licence to kill. They were joined by Lea Seydoux (Bond’s girlfriend Dr Madeleine Swann) and Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek (new villain Safin) — plus 007’s iconic, gadget-packed Aston Martin DB5.

The two-and-a-half-minute trailer opens with Bond and Swann being chased in his car. But Bond suspects her of betraying him. She asks him: ‘Why would I betray you?’ And he replies: ‘We all have our secrets, we just didn’t get to yours yet.’

Bond then meets Nomi, who tells him: ‘The world has moved on Commander Bond. You get in my way, I will put a bullet in your knee.’

The trailer ends with Bond in his Aston Martin, machine guns blazing from the headlights.

As well as Swann, other characters making a return in the 25th Bond film include Q (Ben Whishaw), M (Ralph Fiennes), Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) and Ernst Blofeld (Christoph Waltz).

Spy another day: Malek and Lynch in the movie

Yesterday, the cast appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America, where Malek paid tribute to Craig (in his fifth and final outing as the spy). ‘You are as timeless as these films,’ he said. ‘You’ve done a magnificent job.’

No Time To Die is out in the UK on April 2.
