Happy Galentine’s Day! How to Stream the ‘Parks and Rec’ Episode That Started It All

‘Tis the day to ditch your significant other and celebrate your best female friends: it’s Galentine’s Day! And there’s no better way to celebrate than to stream the Parks and Recreation episodes that first kicked off this booze-soaked tradition.

Galentine’s Day first appeared in Parks and Recreation‘s second season. Episode 16 starts with Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) drowning her best girl friends Anne (Rashida Jones), April (Aubrey Plaza), Donna (Retta), and her mom (Pamela Reed) in hand-crocheted flower pens and mosaic plates made from their favorite diet sodas. As Leslie chirpily explains, “Every February 13 my lady friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it breakfast style.”

Though Parks and Recreation’s first Galentine’s Day was introduced as a way to celebrate lady friends, Season 2 Episode 16 inevitably ended up revolving around romance. While trying to set up her mom with her lost love, Leslie realized that the lawyer she was dating at the time (Justin Theroux) wasn’t as sweet as she originally thought. That changed to become a bit more gal pal-centric the other two times the holiday appeared. Season 4’s “Operation Ann” is all about the too-caring Leslie desperately trying to set Ann (Rashida Jones) up with a new guy. And Season 6’s “Galentine’s Day” revolves around Leslie using the holiday to interview for a new best friend after Ann moves (Spoiler alert: She can never replace Ann Perkins).

Ever since the episode first aired in 2010 it’s morphed into a semi-real holiday. Target actually started selling merchandise for it in 2017. So how can you watch the Parks and Rec episodes that started it all?

Basically if you have any major streaming service, you’re set. Parks and Recreation is currently available to stream on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. Select episodes are also on NBC’s site. Here’s the full list of episodes for your inevitable binge watch:
