Coronation Street’s Mikey North denies kissing co-star Alison King at the NTAs
Corrie actor Mikey North has denied kissing his co-star Alison King at the National Television Awards in London.
The two actors, who play Gary Windass and Carla Connor in the ITV soap, attended the glamorous awards bash presented by David Walliams at the O2 Arena last Tuesday (January 28).
Footage had been filmed of the Coronation Street co-stars speaking closely at the event, prompting accusations of a kiss between them.
Married Mikey has responded in a defiant statement to OK!, writing: “I would like to make one thing clear: I did not kiss my co-star Alison King during the recent National Television Awards. It is beyond ludicrous to suggest that I would or that I did.”
He reveals that the “grainy” footage” only showed him speaking in Alison’s ear at a noisy event.
He added that the reports regarding him and Alison have caused him and his family “a great deal of distress.”
The actor also confirmed that he has lodged a complaint with the Independent Press Standards Organisation over the “baseless gossip”.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Alison left the event on the arm of a mystery blonde woman following the filmed conversation with Mikey.
Alison has been engaged to fiancé David Stuckley since last year, while Mikey and wife Rachel welcomed their second child, Eliza, last year.
He told OK! at the time: “Having children is one of the most rewarding, but also hardest, things I’ve been through in life.”
