Dog the Bounty Hunter breaks cover after Moon Angell moves out and rejects marriage proposal
Dog the Bounty Hunter has broken cover for the first time since being rejected on national television and having his young rebound girlfriend move out.
The bereaved reality star, 67, is still grieving the loss of his wife Beth Chapman to cancer last year, but looked set to open a new chapter of his life with Beth’s ex-assistant Moon Angell.
However, after a humiliating appearance on US chat show Dr Oz, in which Moon turned down his marriage proposal, the pair have mutually decided to split.
Moon has since moved out of Dog’s Hawaiian mansion and taken her possessions with her – much to the delight of Dog’s daughter Lyssa, who has been fiercely against their whirlwind relationship.
Lyssa tweeted on January 29: “I will not tweet. I willl not tweet I will not tweet. I will not tweet.”
But one fan gently took her to task, telling her: “I completely understand your plight and anger at all this. I am shocked. However I do understand a man’s need for a woman and not to be alone. There is a better choice for sure… and your dad deserves better than his choice. Praying for you all.”
Lyssa hit back: “A need for a con artist?”
Two days later, Lyssa tweeted again: “Sipping tea.”
It came after Moon publicly rejected her new boyfriend’s proposal on The Dr Oz Show.
Dog, real name Duane Chapman, wanted to set the record straight about his relationship with Moon, which had come under fire from fans who accused him of moving on too quickly following the death of Beth.
The 67-year-old TV star started the interview by saying Beth would have wanted him to be happy after she was gone.
He then turned to a shocked Moon and said: “I didn’t tell you I was going to do this, but this is The Dr Oz Show. I think this will put a stop to a lot of this.
“Moon Angell, will you marry me?”
Moon, who was Beth’s maid of honour on her and Dog’s wedding day, replied: “What!?” as a look of confusion spread across her face.
She then appeared to mouth the word ‘no’ at Dog.
“What are you saying?” Dog asked her.
“We’re friends, I love you as a friend. I don’t see you as that, I love you and Beth as my friends,” she told the widower.
“I can’t marry you, at this very moment, I don’t see you as that.”
It was then that Dog came clean and admitted he’d faked the proposal to prove to people that he and Moon were just friends.
He also said he didn’t see anything strange about his relationship with Moon: “I’ve read studies where some men fall in love with their wife’s best friends.”
He insisted he and Moon have not slept together despite her sharing a video from his bed last month.
In the wake of their split, Moon has been spending time with her adult daughter and licking her emotional wounds.
