Home Secretary Priti Patel recently criticised jet-setting celebs in the House of Commons.

She said: “We see plenty of influencers on social media showing off about which parts of the world that they are in, mainly in sunny parts of the world.

“Going on holiday is not an exemption and it’s important that people stay at home.”

The United Arab Emirates’ addition to the red list means only returning British and Irish nationals can enter borders at home and they must quarantine for 10 days.

Towie’s Chloe Sims is the latest star to be snapped in Tulum, arriving with daughter Madison, 15, and pal Frankie Essex.

However, she made it clear that it was strictly for business. In a bid to stem any potential fallout from the trip, she wrote in capitals: “I HAVE ARRIVED IN MEXICO.. SO I WANTED TO GET AHEAD OF ANY NEGATIVE STORIES TO MAKE IT CLEAR, THIS IS FIRST & FOREMOST A WORK RELATED TRIP.

“SOME OPPORTUNITIES HAVE PRESENTED THEMSELVES, THAT I FELT I COULD NOT TURN DOWN & SO AFTER FULLY CONSIDERING THE LATEST GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES. I DECIDED TO TRAVEL.

Yesterday Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a ban on flights to Mexico, while the US is only allowing essential travel to its neighbour until at least February 21.

Mexico has a greater Covid death toll than the UK with 156,579 so far. It has registered 1.84 million cases in total and is ramping up testing capacity in a bid to salvage its tourism industry.

Passengers flying into the US from Mexico need to record a negative Covid test within three days of their trip.

While back home PM Boris Johnson apologised and said he took responsibility as the death toll passed 100,000.
