Emma Stone Just Made a Case for This Divisive Summer Staple
Just the word skort can make even the most open-minded fashion aficionado shudder. The skirt-short hybrid has long been dismissed a relic of the past that should, well, stay there and never come back. Even at the height of the Y2K resurgence, no one wanted to give the skort a second chance—except for Taylor Swift who stepped out in multiple versions of the summer style last year.
And now, her BFF Emma Stone is also getting in on the trend, infusing a contemporary twist on the divisive style. On Friday, the actress attended several press events for her new film Kinds of Kindness in New York City, hopping across town in a white skort that featured two front pockets and an opening that offered a glimpse at her micro shorts underneath. She paired her dressy take on the traditionally athletic staple with a matching collarless jacket with multi-colored buttons and strappy white lace-up sandals.
A tiny monogrammed Louis Vuitton purse, rose-tinted sunglasses, and a simple silver drop earrings rounded out her look, while she wore her auburn hair down in loose waves swept to the side.
Aside from the skort, Stone has another Swift connection with her upcoming movie, as she stars alongside the pop star’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn in the film. Despite the somewhat recent breakup between her best friend and her co-star, Stone isn’t playing favorites. “I love Joe,” Stone previously gushed about Alwyn, explaining that they were already “friends” prior to the project. “We had to do some pretty dark stuff on this one, so it was extremely comforting to be with him because he’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”
