John Legend mourns loss of his ‘beautiful grandma’ four months after singer and wife Chrissy Teigen lost baby Jack
JOHN Legend mourned the loss of his “beautiful grandma” on Tuesday.
The passing on Marjorie Maxine Stephens comes just four months after he and wife Chrissy Teigen lost their baby Jack.
The 42-year-old musician shared the sad news in an Instagram post.
Alongside a snap of John with his arm around his grandmother, he wrote: “My beautiful grandmother, Marjorie Maxine Stephens, left this world early this morning, just a few days after her 91st birthday.
“We are so grateful for the life she lived, for the love she shared with her many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and beyond.”
The post also included photos of Marjorie holding a baby and another of her sitting at a table as she cut lettuce with a knife.
He continued in the caption: “She was the most caring and conscientious grandmother you could imagine. She still sent us all birthday cards with cash until her final days. She hosted our yearly Christmas celebrations until we literally couldn’t fit in her little pink house on Heard Avenue in Springfield, Ohio.”
John continued to fondly remember his grandmother, writing: “She was active and full of curiosity and energy until her final days. She always had a story to tell and words of encouragement and love. She supported us and rooted for us unconditionally.
“I’m so glad she got to see the fruits of all she gave us.
“She got to travel the world with us, went to my first Grammys. She got to experience the successes of all her offspring.”
The Voice judge concluded: “We are the family we are, the individuals we are because of the love she poured into us.
“We are sad to lose her but most of all so appreciative of the full, blessed life she lived.
“May she Rest In Peace after running a great race. 💗💗💗💗💗”
Marjorie’s tragic passing comes just months after John and Chrissy, 35, lost their son Jack.
The model revealed in October that she and John lost their baby son after she suffered from “excessive bleeding” while pregnant.
Chrissy shared the news in a heartbreaking Instagram post.
Alongside black and white shots of the couple in the hospital, she wrote: “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before.
“We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
The couple- who have two children, Luna, two, and Miles, two – had already named the son that they lost Jack.
