Juice Wrld’s family break silence on sudden death to confirm his drug addiction

Juice Wrld’s devastated family have broken their silence on his sudden death to confirm he was battling an addiction to prescription drugs.

The rapper tragically died on Sunday at the age of just 21 after suffering a seizure at Chicago’s Midway Airport.

It happened shortly after he landed.

Authorities later discovered 70lbs of marijuana in luggage found on board his private jet.

Three handguns were also found on the jet and it’s been claimed that Juice Wrld – real name Jarad Anthony Higgins – took some pills shortly before his death.

His heartbroken family have now released a statement.

They told TMZ : “We loved Jarad with all of our hearts and cannot believe our time with him has been cut short. As he often addressed in his music and to his fans, Jarad battled with prescription drug dependency.”

They added: “Addiction knows no boundaries and its impact goes way beyond the person fighting it. Jarad was a son, brother, grandson, friend and so much more to so many people who wanted more than anything to see him defeat addiction.”

Juice Wrld’s family now hope that his story can help others.

They said: “We hope the conversations he started in his music and his legacy will help others win their battles as that is what he wanted more than anything.”

Reports have suggested that the rapper downed narcotics in a bid to hide them from the police just minutes before he suffered his fatal seizure.

The US site says that the pilot raised the alarm after noticing weapons being carried onto the flight from Los Angeles, and FBI and FAA agents were waiting on the ground when the plane landed.

It’s said Jarad swallowed “a number of Percocet painkillers” to hide them from feds as they searched through his entourage’s luggage.

The rapper downed the narcotics “at some point between the plane landing and the feds conducting their search”, with sources saying the pills could have contributed to his death in a possible overdose.

An initial autopsy has been carried out, but the coroner is still waiting for the results of toxicology, neuropathology and cardiac pathology tests to determine the cause of death.
