Matt Damon Agrees with Those Jesse Plemons Lookalike Comparisons: ‘He Looked Exactly Like Me’
“Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely,” the ‘Good Will Hunting’ star said of whether he sees the resemblance between him and Plemons
Matt Damon doesn’t mind being compared to his celebrity doppelgänger Jesse Plemons!
While speaking to Access Hollywood alongside his The Instigators costars Hong Chau, 45, and Casey Affleck, 48, Damon, 53, was questioned about Plemons’ resemblance to him.
The pair have been compared for years, and the outlet made sure to show Damon what Plemons, 36, recently had to say when they questioned him about his lookalike.
Plemons told the outlet he was, “Definitely flattered by the comparison,” jokingly adding, “But yeah, I would be curious to hear [Damon’s] thoughts, if he’s annoyed.”
After being shown a clip of Plemons’ interview, Damon said of whether he sees the resemblance between the pair, “Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.”
The Good Will Hunting star noted that Plemons once portrayed a young version of his character in the 2000 movie All the Pretty Horses. Plemons would have been around 12 years old at the time.
“The crew was freaking out,” Damon recalled.
“Five people came up to me before I met him and they were like, ‘You’re not gonna believe how much this kid looks like you,'” he went on.
Admitting the actors have a picture together somewhere, Damon told the outlet, “I couldn’t believe it. He looked more like me than I did when I was little. Like my little 11-year-old face did not look like it [was going to become me]. He looked exactly like me. I was like, ‘This is really weird.'”
Insisting Plemons was “incredible to watch” as an actor, Damon said, “I’m proud of the comparison.”
As Affleck questioned whether people have tried to cast them as brothers over the years, Damon responded, “Never. I think he’s so much younger than me. He’s got to be 20 years younger than me, or almost that. But I would love to do something with him. I think he’s great.”
Damon’s comments come after Plemons was asked about the uncanny resemblance during an appearance on the Today show on June 20 alongside his Kinds of Kindness costar, Emma Stone.
Host Craig Melvin mentioned his wife Lindsay Czarniak initially thought Plemons was Damon when they watched his recent movie together.
“Yeah, for a little while now, which there are worse things to be called, for sure,” Plemons said of the comparison. “It’s definitely flattering. But yeah, throughout the course of my career, I’ve had various Matt Damon-associated nicknames and such.”
The week before that, on June 11, Jimmy Kimmel’s sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez locked Plemons up and mistook him for the host’s faux archenemy Damon during his appearance on the talk show.
“It has somewhat been haunting me for a little while,” Plemons told Kimmel when questioned whether he is mistaken for Damon frequently.
“It’s hard for me to say — not really,” he added of whether he sees any resemblance himself.
