Meryl Streep Keeps Barbiecore Going Strong in Pink Suit at the 2024 Emmys
Streep is nominated for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for her work on ‘Only Murders in the Building’ season 3
Meryl Streep proved pink is always a good idea on the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet.
On Sunday, Sept. 15, Streep, 75, the actress wowed in a Barbiecore-coded bubblegum pink suit. The ensemble featured a jacket with structured shoulders, a pink shirt with a pussy bow and wide-leg pants.
She topped the look off with open-toe sandals, a pink purse, hoop earrings and pink-tinted glasses. The Oscar winner’s blonde hair was swept into a half-up, half-down style.
The actress is nominated for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for her role as Loretta on Only Murders in the Building season 3. Streep — who has been nominated for six Emmys over the course of her career and won three so far — is joined in her category by Carol Burnett (Palm Royale), Hannah Einbinder (Hacks), Janelle James (Abbott Elementary), Liza Colon-Zayas (The Bear) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary).
Whether at the Emmys or in Cannes, Streep always epitomizes elegance. In May, the Big Little Lies alum captivated onlookers in two French-inspired ensembles at the Cannes Film Festival.
At the opening ceremony photocall, Streep stepped out in a white Michael Kors suit, which she paired with a navy-and-white striped Lilysilk blouse. She completed her look with dark Prada sunglasses, a sun hat and hoop earrings.
Later on at the Le Deuxième Acte (The Second Act) premiere, she arrived in a glitzy cream-colored wrap dress with three-quarter length sleeves, dangly earrings and black-rimmed glasses. She styled her hair in a simple bun, and carried a white clutch with a clasp.
More recently, Streep joined her Only Murders in the Buildings costars (and fellow Emmy nominees) Martin Short, Selena Gomez and Steve Martin for the show’s star-studded season 4 premiere in Los Angeles. The actress walked the red carpet in a patterned black and white Stella McCartney dress, which she accessorized with a wide belt.
During a For Your Consideration panel in March, Short revealed he was “nervous” about working with the Oscar winner when she was first cast in season 3.
“It was one of the great thrills of my life,” the actor, 74, said, per The Hollywood Reporter. “The first day of shooting — which was rare, because I’m not brand-new — I was driving to work and I thought, ‘I’m nervous today. I’m working with Meryl Streep.’ “
