Tom Cruise lands helicopter in UK family’s garden due to airport closure
Tom Cruise does his own stunts, even in his off-time.
The action star, who’s currently shooting the seventh installment of “Mission Impossible” in the UK, was forced to make an emergency helicopter landing in a Warwickshire garden due to nearby Coventry Airport being shut down temporarily.
“It turned out to be an incredible day,” homeowner Alison Webb said, according to the BBC. “It was surreal, I still now can’t believe it happened.”
Webb and her family were told their field was needed for an anonymous “VIP who was running late.” It turned out to be the three-time Golden Globe winner, 59.
“I thought it would be kind of cool for the kids to see the helicopter land in the garden,” she said. “He [Cruise] basically arrived and got out and it was like ‘Wow.’”
The father of three also allowed Webb’s children to take a ride in the chopper while he took care of business around town.
“He went straight over to the children for a chat, then came over and elbow-bumped us and said ‘thank you very much,’” she explained. “Then he said if the kids would like they could go up in the helicopter.”
Cruise is currently rumored to be dating “Mission: Impossible 7” co-star Hayley Atwell, with whom he attended the Wimbledon finals last month.
Back in June, Cruise reportedly had to self-isolate after “Mission: Impossible” cast and crew members tested positive for COVID-19. The Hollywood heavy hitter was infamously caught on audio last year reportedly lashing out at workers on set who he said were not taking COVID-19 protocols seriously.
