JINKIES! THE HANNA-BARBARA CINEMATIC UNIVERSE BEGINS IN FIRST TRAILER FOR ‘SCOOB’

Like, zoinks, man! The first trailer for Scoob is here, and it’s the first stop in Warner Bros. Animation’s planned cinematic universe for classic Hanna-Barbera characters. What better way to ease viewers into such a concept than a film that puts the main emphasis on Scooby-Doo and the rest of his Mystery Inc. pals?

Directed by Tony Cervone, a seasoned veteran of the Doo franchise, Scoob features the voice talents of Will Forte (Shaggy), Amanda Seyfried (Daphne), Zac Efron (Fred), Gina Rodriguez (Velma), and Frank Welker (Scooby). In addition to the young crime-solvers, the movie is also a conduit for introducing Captain Caveman (Tracy Morgan), Dick Dastardly (Jason Isaacs), Dynomutt (Ken Jeong), Dee Dee Sykes (Kiersey Clemons), and Blue Falcon (Mark Wahlberg).

Because this is a Scooby-Doo-centric outing, Scoob is partly an origin story about how Shaggy and Scooby first met each other as well as the remaining members of Mystery Inc.

According to the official synopsis, however, the main plot takes place after the group has solved hundreds of cases over the years. Now, they’ll have to take on their “biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog, Ceberus, upon the world. As they race to stop the global ‘Dogpocalypse,’ the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.”

Kelly Fremon Craig, writer and director of The Edge of Seventeen, penned the project’s screenplay. Chris Columbus (director of Home Alone and Harry Potter) serves as a producer with Allison Abbate (The Lego Movie, Smallfoot).
