Money Heist, also known as La Casa de Papel, first premiered as an Antena 3 show that seemed destined for cancelation. Then Netflix swooped in and saved the day. Since premiering in 2017, the world-spanning series has won Best Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards and has become the most-watched non-English-language show on Netflix. It’s so big the Italian anti-fascist song “Bella Ciao,” which plays throughout the series, became an actual summer hit in 2018. Money Heist is and remains a phenomenon.

When Is the Money Heist Season 5 Release Date?
We’re approaching the beginning of the end. The final season of Money Heist premieres this Friday, September 3. But for Part 5, Netflix is doing things a bit differently. Instead of releasing all 10 episodes at once, there will be two volumes to this last installment. Volume 1 will be composed of five episodes and premiere in September. That will then be followed by the final five episodes in December.

How Did Money Heist Part 4 End?
With all kinds of heartbreak. Let’s get the big disappointment from Part 4 out of the way. Yes, Nairobi (Alba Flores) is dead. After surviving Inspector Alicia Sierra’s (Najwa Nimri) conniving plan, Nairobi was held hostage by head of security Gandía (José Manuel Poga). He used his loose leash to murder her.
That needless death was the final straw for The Professor (Álvaro Morte). He leaked evidence to the media, proving that Rio (Miguel Herrán) had been tortured by the government. Then he took his newfound press attention and revealed that Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) was being illegally held by the government of Spain. Two birds, one heck of a distraction.
At the same time, Lisbon was put on trial for her part in the robbery of the Bank of Spain. Shockingly, she played along, but it was all a ruse. After her testimony, The Professor’s team grabbed her, taking her back from the government. Speaking of holding, the team inside the bank had an annoying hostage of their own. Instead of killing Gandía, they took him as their prisoner. So that’s going to be a thorn at some point.
Did you think that Alicia would take her massive public failure well? Think again. Alicia, knowing that her career was over, burned some bridges of her own. She was supposed to head a press conference where she would take credit for this case’s many failures. Well, she didn’t do that. Instead, she blamed her bosses and immediately ran toward more danger. At the end of Part 4, Alicia cornered The Professor. It’s just him, her, a gun, and a vendetta a mile long. That’s what Part 5 will have to unravel.
