Capping off her game-changing year, Ariana Grande has announced all five of her studio albums, along with her Christmas & Chill EP, will be available on limited edition colour vinyl on 6 December.
While the colour editions are exclusive to her artist store, her first three albums – Yours Truly, My Everything and Dangerous Woman – are set for release on black vinyl and will be available at retail stores worldwide via Republic Records/UMe.
The Grammy-award winning artist already has an enviable catalogue of work to her name at the age of 26. She’s gone from teen star to global pop icon and is the first artist in music history to have the lead single from her first five albums debut on the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
In just the span of six years, she’s made quick work of the Billboard charts, evolving her sound each step of the way.
Her 2013 debut Yours Truly introduced the world to her powerful pipes and skilled control as she sang circles around the competition. A throwback to the kind of 90s R&B divas she emulated during her early days, Grande burst onto the scene with her first single, ‘The Way’, featuring the late Mac Miller.
Grande quickly followed up her debut with My Everything in 2014. “This is how you follow up an impressive debut: simply step into the recording booth and be amazing yet again,” wrote The Associated Press. Her sophomore release was stacked with hits, from the Iggy Azalea-assisted ‘Problem’ to the EDM smash ‘Break Free’ featuring Zedd and the girl powered-anthem ‘Bang Bang’, featuring Jessie J and Nicki Minaj.
Then Grande really came into her own, fully becoming a Dangerous Woman in 2016. While the record has its share of cameos (Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Future) it was Grande’s stage to own. Donning a black-latex bunny mask, the record saw Grande explore her sensual side and spawned three hit singles: ‘Side To Side’, ‘Into You’ and the title track, ‘Dangerous Woman’.
Following Dangerous Woman, Grande experienced two transformative years of personal loss and tragedy, coming out on the other side a stronger person and confident artist. Her comeback album, Sweetener earned rave reviews, with critics proclaiming it “the best album of her career”. The album debuted at No.1 and saw the singer explore more experiential sounds and personal introspection
Continuing her hot streak, she released thank u, next, her second No.1 bow on the Billboard chart in under six months. The album broke numerous records right out of the gate, and still holds the record for largest streaming week for a pop album and female artist. thank u, next, saw Grande make peace with her past and forge a bright new future.
While her second holiday EP, Christmas & Chill may have gotten lost in her vast catalogue, the 2015 EP made its triumphant return to the charts, hitting No.17 on the US iTunes chart this week.
