‘Castlevania’ Season 3 Preview: Monsters and vampire queens rise to threaten the world

Another season of Netflix’s ‘Castlevania’ is almost upon us, promising to satisfy all our appetites for cruel vampire queens, self-righteous necromancers and monsters of all shapes and sizes. There’s plenty of excitement and some very wicked things coming our way so let’s get down to it, shall we?

‘Castlevania’ Season 3 deals with the immediate aftermath of Dracula (Graham McTavish) being killed by Trevor Belmont (Richard Armitage), Alucard / Adrian Tepes (James Callis), and Sypha Benades (Alejandra Reynoso). With the King of Vampires finally dead, you’d think the world might be at peace but as with all wars, the vampire war has left behind more chaos than ever before.

There are splintered vampire armies, monsters from the pits of Hell and vagabonds with strange transport preferences (you do not want us spoiling this one) haunting the roads and generally making life difficult for the people of Wallachia. Not to mention weird cults and whatever Isaac (Adetokumboh M’Cormack) has planned now that he’s got himself a demonic army of his own.

But even in all this darkness, there is still some hope. Trevor and Sypha are on the road, dispensing justice and death to monsters, while Alucard finds a new set of friends to keep him company while they learn all he can teach them about the art of vampire-killing, a subject the patricidal half-vampire is very well-versed in. The primary plot of the season focuses on a mysterious conspiracy that threatens to unleash greater destruction that even Dracula wouldn’t have dared to bring about and Trevor and Sypha’s efforts to uncover the truth before it is too late.

Through it all, Carmilla (Jaime Murray) and her sisters plot to take advantage of all the chaos unleashed by Dracula’s defeat using Hector (Theo James) to create a new army for themselves. While they may seem like the main threat, Isaac’s own plans for the world are yet to be revealed and he may actually end up being the true star of the season.

‘Castlevania’ Season 3 will arrive on Netflix on March 5.
