Tom Hanks movie ‘Greyhound’ is going straight to Apple TV+

The film ‘Greyhound’, which Tom Hanks wrote and stars in, is set to premiere on Apple TV+.

The title was one of numerous movies delayed in the current health crisis.

The Sony movie will now become the biggest feature film commitment made by Apple to premiere on Apple TV+, according to Deadline.

It will premiere in more than a hundred countries on the platform.

According to reports, once the film was taken from the cinematic release schedule, Sony and Hanks’ Playtone company started to subtly shop the film around.

This sparked a bidding war between the streaming services with Apple taking the prize.

Greyhound’ is based on the 1955 war novel ‘The Good Shepherd’. It was inspired by true events during World War II.

The movie follows a US naval commander – played by Hanks – who gets his first command in leading a convoy of merchant ships across the Atlantic during the height of World War II. Along the way, Nazi U-boats hunt the USS Greyhound. The men have to battle to survive while getting the convoy to safety.

Apple has yet to set a release date.
