Nicole Taylor, one of the three identical sisters behind the country trio Taylor Red, has died. She was 35.
Her triplet sisters, Natalie and Nika Taylor, shared the heartbreaking news on Monday, November 2, in a video posted to the group’s channels and a statement on their website. According to the family, Nicole passed away on September 28 in Nashville, Tennessee, after a long battle with breast cancer.
“We’re heartbroken to announce the passing of our sister Nicole Taylor,” Nika said in the emotional video, adding that the family had truly believed she would be healed “here on earth,” but that she is now “healed in heaven.”
A Four-Year Fight With Breast Cancer
Nicole was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2022, a form her sisters described as very aggressive. She responded well to treatment and was at one point told there was no evidence of disease, but the cancer later returned and progressed to stage 4.
Doctors gave her about three months to live, but Nicole defied that timeline and lived roughly another year. Her sisters said she faced her illness fearlessly, and even kept up her CrossFit workouts while going through chemotherapy.
Natalie and Nika called Nicole “our leader and our best friend” and said they take comfort in knowing she is at peace and no longer suffering.
The Oldest of the Taylor Triplets
Nicole was the oldest of the triplets, born one minute before Natalie and two minutes before Nika. The sisters first made music together as Red Roots, releasing their debut album in the early 2010s, before changing their name to Taylor Red in 2018.
Signed to Inpop Records, the trio released several albums, including The Middle of Nowhere and Triplicity, and opened for artists such as Amy Grant, Josh Turner, Diamond Rio, Michael W. Smith and Charlie Daniels. Many fans also know them from their Sonic Drive-In commercials in 2020 and 2021.
Beyond the stage, the sisters built a massive online following, with millions of fans across TikTok, YouTube and Facebook, where they shared their harmonies, faith and everyday life as triplets.
How Fans Can Honor Nicole
The family has already held a private memorial service. Instead of flowers, fans are encouraged to donate in Nicole’s name to Samaritan’s Purse.
Our thoughts are with Natalie, Nika and the entire Taylor family during this difficult time.
