Doja Cat May Have Found Her Next Hit With A Song That’s Still Unreleased

Doja Cat just hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Say So,” and now it looks like she has another TikTok-assisted hit on her hands. The rapper previously played fans portions of an unreleased song, titled “N-ggas Ain’t Sh-t,” and they’ve really taken to the track. Now, it’s shaping up to be a hit before it’s even released.

Doja first played the song on Instagram Live at the beginning of April:

A fan-uploaded clip of the song has racked up more than one million YouTube views, with viewers taking an interest in her dressing-down of the men in her life:

That’s not cheating if I wasn’t with your ass, yo
You kept secrets and your cousin told me that, so
Logical thinkin’ is just something that you lack, so
What you even mad for? Lookin’ like a stick up in your assh-le

On TikTok, users lip-sync along to these lyrics while reflecting on past relationships:

TikTok also helped “Say So” become a hit thanks to a dance challenge.

“N-ggas Ain’t Sh-t” has already earned over 117,000 pageviews on Genius, a higher total than half the songs on her popular sophomore album, Hot Pink. Its rise to popularity, however, may be complicated by Doja’s success. She’s just one week out from “Say So” hitting No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart, and her label is reportedly planning to push “Like That” with Gucci Mane as the next Hot Pink single. It’s unclear where “N-ggas Ain’t Sh-t” fits into that plan.

Doja is hardly the first artist to see a song blow up via snippet. Kodak Black’s 2018 track, “ZEZE,” arrived as an instant hit after a video snippet of Kodak and Travis Scott dancing to the beat became a meme. Last year, Kehlani’s fans campaigned for her to release “All Me” after it went viral online. The song subsequently earned over 35 million Spotify streams. There’s also the curious case of The BoyBoy West Coast.

Doja has yet to clarify her release plans for “N-ggas Ain’t Sh-t,” but fans clearly aren’t waiting for a commercial release to enjoy the song.
