Kevin Hart makes first public appearance since his horrific car accident

Kevin Hart was seriously injured earlier this year after a car accident where he suffered three spinal fractures, which required surgery where he had the fractures fused, two of them in the thoracic section of the spine and one in his lumbar region.

At the time, Kevin’s wife Eniko Hart told TMZ that the funnyman and Jumanji star was “going to be just fine”.

The comedian made an appearance at the People’s Choice Awards, his first since the accident, to accept the award for comedy act of the year.

“Thank God because I definitely don’t have to be here,” Hart said when he took the stage. “Being that I am, it makes me appreciate life even more — appreciate the things that really matter, family. I wanna thank my wife and my kids.”

He was presented the award by Robert Downey Jr. and he walked out to a standing ovation from the crowd and to the tune of Kanye West’s “Stronger.”

Hart, who looked emotional on stage added: “You have no idea the effect that you have on us as entertainers. Your energy, your support. It means the world and I truly want to thank you guys for being there for me in my difficult time.”

He shared the video detailing his accident and the recovery since in an IGTV video in October.

“Basically what you realise is that you’re not in control,” Hart narrates at the beginning of the video, which he posted to Instagram. “No matter how much you think you’re in control, you’re not in control. At the end of the day, it can all be over, man.”
