The 2020 Oscar nominations have arrived, including the final nominees for Best Original Song. Competing for the award are Randy Newman, for Toy Story 4’s “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away,” and Bernie Taupin and Elton John, for Rocketman’s “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” among others. Thom Yorke and Beyoncé were on the shortlist for Best Original Song but did not make the final round of nominees.

Newman also got a Best Original Score nod for his work on Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story. Find the full list of Best Original Song nominations below.

Beyoncé’s “Spirit” was included on The Lion King (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) and The Lion King: The Gift. A Best Original Song nod would have marked her first Oscar nomination. Yorke, too, failed to earn his first nomination, though it was his second time being shortlisted: He was also on the 2019 shortlist for his Suspiria song “Suspirium.”

The 2019 Oscar for Best Original Song went to Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, and Andrew Wyatt for A Star Is Born’s “Shallow.” Read “Why ‘Shallow’ Is Destined to Be a Karaoke Classic” on the Pitch.
