Wilmer Valderrama Is Engaged to Girlfriend Amanda Pacheco
What an eventful way to welcome the New Year. Actor Wilmer Valderrama and girlfriend Amanda Pacheco are engaged, he announced January 1.
The actor, best known for his role as Fez on That ’70s Show, took to Instagram on New Year’s Day to post a photo from this scenic proposal. Valderrama proposed to the model at sunset in La Jolla on rocks jutting out to sea. “‘It’s just us now,’” he wrote, alongside the engagement date of “01-01-2020.”
The couple went public with their relationship this summer, first on Instagram followed by a front-row appearance at Miami Swim Week. She also accompanied Valderrama to France for Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s destination wedding as well.
“Wilmer always opens the door for Amanda and pays the bill,” a source told E! News in May amidst relationship speculation. “He definitely wants to make sure she feels taken care of. Even if they are just doing simple things, they have a lot of fun and are always smiling.”
Prior to his relationship with Pacheco, Valderrama was linked to Demi Lovato for six years. (The two still remain on good terms.) He’s also dated the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Minka Kelly and Mandy Moore throughout his long career in Hollywood.
One thing is near certain about the couple’s wedding: there will be tequila. The actor recently spoke to Forbes about a variety of topics ranging from his latest projects to immigration and culture in border towns. A sliver of the conversation included his drink of choice.
“When I was like thirteen, my dad decided we were going to America, and he gave me a tiny shot of Aguardiente — it’s like between a sake and licorice,” he recalled. “And that was super smart, because I hated it, and didn’t drink again until I was twenty-one. That year, my ’70s Show costars took me out for my birthday, and Ashton Kutcher gave me my first shot of whiskey. Socially, I would have the worst drinks, like cranberry and a splash of vodka, but then I was going to nicer places and introduced to different things. The first time I had tequila — I had the best time of my life. Why am I hugging everyone and having so much fun? Other liquors drive you to reflect, to isolate. Tequila enhances your mood. If you’re down, it tells you it’s not going to be that bad. If you’re in a good mood, it says we should probably get on a table. Maybe we should take our shirts off.”
