Let’s Talk About ‘The Politician’ Season 2, Shall We?

If you’re coming to this article halfway or all the way through binging season one of Netflix’s The Politician, welcome! You’re in the right place, because the rest of the internet is just as obsessed with this show as you are.

The drama follows Payton (Ben Platt) as he tries to take the Iron Throne high school presidential race, and the finale basically sets up the second season perfectly. Will Payton continue to do the Payton thing in political races? Will Astrid ever figure out who she really is? Will David Corenswet’s sweet, sweet ass ever quit? (No.) Here’s everything we know about the next season of The Politician.

Good news first:

The show is definitely getting a second season. As part of creator Ryan Murphy’s deal with Netflix, the streaming service gave the show a two-season order right off the bat, which is actually pretty abnormal. But, what Ryan Murphy wants!!

FYI, the second season is set to begin production in October. Like, next month.

What’s it going to be about?

Great question. (If you haven’t finished watching season one yet, please skip to the next header because there are SPOILERS AHEAD.) The first season ended with Payton running for state senate, and all his old friends coming together to help him do it. The final scene, which shows him giving a speech for the media about his candidacy, is a pretty easy set-up for the second season.

How long could the show go on for?

Welp, apparently it could get a full five seasons. According to The Hollywood Reporter, that was the original plan. Each season would theoretically follow Payton through a different political race in his quest for the presidency.

Who’s returning?

Probably pretty much everyone! Not totally sure yet. We’ll update this post when we get more confirmations.

Alright, I think that’s it! Vote 4 Payton, or whatever.
