Newcomer Widow’s Bay emerged at the top of the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night with six wins, including a top prize for the Outstanding Comedy Series. Matthew Rhys made history when he became the first man to win two lead actor categories in the same year for his work on the Apple TV horror-comedy and the limited series The Beast in Me.
Widow’s Bay also swept the supporting acting categories in a comedy, as well as for writing and directing.
The Pitt scored two wins throughout the evening, including the major award for Outstanding Drama Series for the second year in a row, while Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Dr. Robby.

Sci-fi drama Pluribus tied The Pitt with two wins during the ceremony, earning Rhea Seehorn her first-ever Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series as well as Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
More than 100 Emmy Awards were previously handed out before the primetime show on Monday. The Television Academy presented the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys during a two-night gala in Los Angeles on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6.
Widow’s Bay dominated the Emmys with 14 combined wins out of a total of 19 nominations. Rounding out the top winners were The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny, the limited series DTF St. Louis, and the reality show The Traitors, each of which took home seven awards across all the ceremonies.
The Pitt, which led the nominations with 25, took home six awards. Hacks had 24 nods — a record for a comedy series — and took home two awards.
HBO Max led all networks with 122 nominations, followed by Netflix (111) and Apple TV (87). ABC topped the broadcast networks with 40.

The late actor and director Rob Reiner received a posthumous Emmy for his guest role on The Bear.
Mariska Hargitay, the Emmy-winning star of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, hosted the show — the first woman to do so in 15 years. My Mom Jayne, Hargitay’s HBO documentary about her mother, Jayne Mansfield, received three nominations and won two.
