Happy Mother’s Day from Women’s World Today
Today – May 9 – is Mother’s Day, a time set aside to honor the women in our lives who do so much for others.
Mother’s Day officially started in the 1900s due to the efforts of Anna Jarvis, who thought mothers deserved their own day to honor the sacrifices they make for their families. The first Mother’s Day celebrations took place in West Virginia and, in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a measure establishing the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
