Love Island USA season 7 favorites Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen have split. Vansteenberghe confirmed the breakup on July 26 in a subscribers-only TikTok post, saying he wanted to be upfront instead of giving fans false hope. He wrote that the two will always love each other and asked for privacy on what he called a sensitive subject.
He said he shared the news with subscribers first because they’re the couple’s biggest supporters.
Why they broke up
The announcement came a few days after a source said the pair had ended things after more than a year together. According to the source, long distance and busy schedules made the relationship hard to keep up, but they remain close friends who will always support each other.
Their Love Island story
On the show, Carthen held back at first out of respect for Cierra Ortega, who was coupled with Vansteenberghe. After Ortega left the villa, the two became one of the season’s most-loved couples. Vansteenberghe later said he’d been Carthen’s secret admirer from day one. After the show, they mostly kept their romance off social media. Carthen told Cosmopolitan in June that they preferred to enjoy their time together away from the cameras.
